Asharq Al-Awsat reported that Lebanon said the strike hit near the hospital in Tyre and that the state-run National News Agency said it "hit a building and the parking lot, resulting in a number of wounded".

Asharq Al-Awsat also said the health ministry shared two videos showing damage inside a hospital ward, including rubble and debris, blown-out ceilings, blood on the floor, shattered glass, and smoke billowing from a fire at what appeared to be a heavily damaged adjacent car park.

UN alarm and ceasefire

Lebanon’s account of the strike was paired with UN concern about escalation, with Asharq Al-Awsat saying the United Nations expressed alarm and called for all sides to respect the ceasefire.

Asharq Al-Awsat quoted UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric saying, "We are deeply alarmed by the escalation in military activities across southern Lebanon and beyond," and urged all actors to respect the cessation of hostilities.

Arab News reported that Lebanon’s embassy in Washington said Hezbollah accepted a US proposal to stop attacking Israel in exchange for Israel halting attacks on south Beirut, shortly after Donald Trump said he had a "very good call" with Hezbollah.

Arab News also reported that Trump said on Truth Social, "There will be no Troops going to Beirut, and any Troops that are on their way, have already been turned back," after a "very productive" call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Wider war stakes

France 24 said the UN Security Council would hold an emergency meeting Monday over Israel’s expanding offensive as Israeli troops captured and planted their flag on a strategic mountain topped with the Crusader-built Beaufort castle near Nabatiyeh in southern Lebanon.

France 24 described the Israeli advance as Israel’s deepest incursion into Lebanon in more than a quarter century, and said the emergency meeting was scheduled as Israel deepened its Lebanese incursion.

In parallel, Arab News said Israel’s growing offensive in Lebanon had threatened to scupper the ceasefire between the US and Iran in the wider Middle East war, while it also reported that Hezbollah drew Lebanon into the conflict on March 2 by firing rockets at Israel.

France 24 further framed the stakes by saying the Israeli advance presented a challenge to extending the Iran war ceasefire because Tehran wants any agreement to end fighting in Lebanon, too.
